(Minneapolis, MN) — In summer 2002, after a ten-year quest, Larry Berle completed playing the Golf Digest Top 100 courses. His journey is detailed in a new book, A Golfer’s Dream: How a Regular Guy (with a slightly above average handicap) Conquered the Golf Digest Top 100.
In slightly over 200 pages, Berle describes his favorite and not-so-favorite courses, his personal experiences, the friends he made, the history and culture of the clubs, and—most important—how he managed to pull off such an accomplishment.
The book, published by Greer and Associates, will be distributed nationwide in bookstores and golf shops, including most Golf Galaxies. It also is available from Amazon (www.amazon.com) or directly from the publisher at www.golfersdreambook.com. The book retails for $14.95 in trade paperback.
The future looks bright for Berle and his family. “I plan on seeing other parts of the world,
participating in more golf travel writing, and doing more volunteer work for things I care about.”
A broad smile spreads across the face of a man who knows how fortunate he is. “I’ve regained full independence.”

A Golfers Dream is Larry Berle’s first book. He owned SRO Productions in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for 31 years, a company specializing in concert promotion, event management and CD compilations for radio stations. Berle promoted concerts for many artists, including Andy Williams, Tony Bennett, George Winston, Yanni, BB King, James Taylor, Bill Cosby and Sinbad. He sold SRO in fall of 2004 and now devotes some time to producing theatrical plays but most of his time to writing about golf and playing golf. The dream to play the Golf Digest Top 100 was born when his wife took him to Pebble Beach for his birthday in 1992. Berle admits to being a slightly above-average golfer (handicap index of 11.9) with strong skills in networking and not being afraid to ask for help (especially when it comes to playing top 100 golf courses).
